Mission - Values & Strategic Goals
The Hellenic Competition Commission (HCC) promotes and protects effective competition in the Greek economy. Consistently acting in the public interest, we seek to create an environment allowing free and fair competition among undertakings and fostering innovation and efficiency, while ensuring that consumers are protected from anti-competitive practices and enjoy quality products and services at fair prices.
Our mission includes fighting against infringements of competition rules, promoting policies that encourage free competition and ensuring that markets function to the benefit of consumers and the Greek economy.
Our values – independence, transparency, equal treatment, responsibility, continuous improvement and cooperation – guide all our actions.
We perform our tasks with integrity and objectivity, adopting decisions in accordance with national and EU law and in cooperation with the European Commission as well as with other national competition authorities.
Transparency characterises all our procedures, creating relationships of trust with the public and businesses.
We promote equal treatment and operate without discrimination, respecting the constitutional principle of equality.
Our strategy focuses on three key goals, namely:
- effective intervention in the market to protect competition,
- enhancing a competition culture among consumers and undertakings, and
- internal organizational refinement, with an emphasis on digital transformation and innovation.
Our work is supported by modern technological tools and innovative and interdisciplinary methodological approaches to control and prevent anti-competitive practices, while at the same time ensuring the use of our resources with a sense of responsibility and due regard to sustainable development.
Our vision at the Hellenic Competition Commission is to substantially contribute to making markets work to promote economic growth to the benefit of consumers and society.
