The Plenary Session of the Hellenic Competition Commission (HCC) will convene on 12 April 2021 to examine, upon the relevant Statement of Objections, the alleged infringement by ALTER EGO MEDIA S.A. and natural persons of Article 39 of the Greek Competition Act (Law 3959/2011, as amended) during the inspection of the relevant business premises. The inspection was carried out by the Directorate-General for Competition on 8 May 2020.
According to the Statement of Objections, during the inspection, a series of obstructive events took place, which constitute an infringement of Article 39 par. 5 of the Greek Competition Act (Law 3959/2011, as amended). In light of the above, the Statement of Objection suggests the imposition of a fine to the implicated parties.
The Statement of Objections concerns only the events that took place during the inspection on 8 May 2020 and it is without prejudice to the investigation concerning alleged anticompetitive practices in the press distribution market.
It is noted that the Statement of Objections is not binding on the HCC, which will decide on the case after it has taken into consideration all the evidence, as well as the arguments put forward by all implicated parties.
