The 7th European Competition Network (ECN) “Digital Investigation & Artificial Intelligence” Working Group meeting was held on 2-3 October 2023, in Athens. The meeting was attended by representatives from the European Commission and the national competition authorities (NCAs) of the EU member states. By decision of the European Commission, it was held for the first time in Athens, at the building of the Bank of Greece, and co-organised by the European Commission (Directorate General for Competition) and the Hellenic Competition Commission.
The primary objective of this working group, established within the ECN for Digital Investigation and Artificial Intelligence (DIAI), is to facilitate the exchange of information in the field of Digital Investigation (including the use of eDiscovery and IT Forensics tools) as well as the use of Artificial Intelligence. The ECN DIAI working group meets twice yearly.
The meeting was attended by over 40 representatives of the ECN National Competition Authorities and the European Commission as well as by representatives of the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA) and the Hellenic Police Forensic Science Division.
It is noted that the European Competition Network (ECN) is the official forum for discussion and cooperation between the European Competition Authorities and the European Commission, with the aim of ensuring the uniform application of EU competition rules within the single market. The Hellenic Competition Commission actively participates in the work of the ECN and cooperates with other National Competition Authorities and the European Commission on general or sectoral issues in the context of the ECN working groups.
