The Hellenic Competition Commission (HCC), as part of its actions to promote and enhance competition, hosted 33 officials of the German Competition Authority (Bundeskartellamt) in the context of their study visit held at the HCC’s premises in Athens, at the initiative of the German Competition Authority.

The visit took place from Friday 20 to Tuesday 24 October 2023 with the aim of strengthening cooperation between the Hellenic and the German Competition Authorities.

As part of the study visit, a visit to the Law School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) was organized, including presentations given by prominent professors of competition law. On October 23 and 24, the study visit took place at the HCC’s premises in Athens, where presentations were delivered by the HCC’s President, Vice-President, Board members as well as by officials of the Directorate-General for Competition. The aim of the visit was to inform the delegation of the German Competition Authority on issues related to national competition law enforcement, case-law, the HCC’s practice in addressing and handling major issues related to competition law, as well as the exchange of relevant experiences and views between the two Competition Authorities and the presentation of the HCC's innovative activities in digital market monitoring, sustainable development, etc.

The above study visit is part of the sustained efforts made by the HCC to enhance its cooperation with other competition authorities at international level and the international recognition of its work in recent years.
