The Hellenic Competition Commission (HCC) is adjusting its operations with a view to protecting public health, in accordance with the guidance and instructions of the competent public health authorities in this respect.

In this context the HCC announces that, in order to prevent the further spread of the COVID-19 disease, it has adopted a decision (to be published in the Official Journal) stating that its opening/ public hours are restricted from 10:00 to 14:00 daily, for the period from 19/03/2020 to 30/04/2020. The Plenary of the HCC will hold scheduled meetings and conferences via a video conferencing platform (following authentication of its users) and, in cases where this is not feasible, it will consider on a case-by-case basis the need to conduct a hearing.

The HCC, being fully aware of its responsibilities and its role, will continue exercising its supervisory powers by conducting investigative measures if and when necessary with a view to safeguarding public interest and fair competition.

The HCC welcomes and promotes teleworking by its staff, in particular during periods when exceptional measures and restrictions are in place, such as this period, with a view to ensuring business continuity and the non-disruption of its operations. The HCC has since last week put in place a teleworking system, which is currently operating in limited mode and is scheduled to be fully operational next Thursday 19/03/2020. This ensures that the Agency will continue performing its tasks without interruption, even in the event that it is deemed necessary to operate with minimum staff present at the HCC’s premises.
